Andersen Consulting

 

  Multi-Threaded Point-Of-Sale Poller

This project provided the Sears retail business with a centralised Point-Of-Sale poller that could retrieve information from Windows NT based POS systems at retail outlets throughout Britain. The system utilised Visual Basic controlling custom Visual C++ dll's to implement a multi-threaded dial-up system allowing up to 32 stores to be polled for information simultaneously. The system could retrieve both machine and sales data and was able to poll 300 stores for disk information in under an hour.

Adams Childrenswear

 

In-Store Sales Reporting System

  Visual Basic 3, Microsoft Access 2, EPOS systems.

 

This system was written as a Back-Office reporting tool for the Adams Childrenswear Retail chain and was implemented across the 350 retail outlets throught the UK and Ireland. The system provided live shop floor information on current sales and stock levels, interfacing with a Windows NT EPOS till system. The system allowed cross-sector sales/stock views as well as plotting results graphically. The system was also required to produce Weekly and daily reports on the store's financial progress.

 

Management Reporting System

A user freindly corporate reporting system that allowed dynamic views across the data warehouse provided Adams with the ability to analyse trends in sales across all stores at transaction level.  The user created report were generated through a bespoke wizard reporting interface.

 

Mark Down Modelling

  Visual Basic 3, Oracle 6.3, Microsoft Access 2,  Modelling system
Users modelled scenarios to show the effect of different price points on volume of sales.  Data from the warehousing system was analysed to provide the data for the underlying scenario.
