Millennium Compliance of Thomas-Cook Global Refund System

Visual Basic, SQL Server 6.0, Millennium Consultancy, Team Management, Legacy systems

A 6 month project working to ascertain the millennium-compliance of the Thomas Cook Global Travellers-Cheque Refund System. The system was written by Thomas Cook in Visual Basic 3.0 and Microsoft SQL Server. Within a short deadline we had to examine the 30 or so components of the system for millennium compliance and decide on a strategy for both resolving the technical issues and for testing the resulting compliant code.

The project involved management of both Thomas Cook and Cap-Gemini staff to attain the target of providing a millennium compliant system within tight deadlines.

Cosmos Travellers-Cheque Management System

Visual Basic, Sybase Enterprise Server, Consultancy, Programming

This was a short six-week project to rewrite an existing travellers-cheque management system into Visual Basic. The project had extremely short deadlines and we were required to design and re-code the application in Visual Basic whilst keeping the look and feel of the application the same as the existing version to avoid re-training of the 200+ operators of the system. As part of this role, we worked alongside Cap Gemini staff and provided consultancy and advice to a less-experienced team of developers.
